Course Title: ART 415 Senior Exhibition
Term: Spring
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Major, Elective credit. Prerequisite: 414 or DES 480. Required course for all art and design majors excluding art history. This course is comprised of the senior exhibition, which includes a public presentation of the student’s art and design work, photographic documentation of the show, an artist statement resume, and a professional announcement. This course must be taken during the term in which the senior exhibition is presented. The completion of the exhibition documentation is a requirement for graduation pass/ fail grading
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Understanding the components required for formally presenting a body of personal visual work for public presentation.

Ability to create and present professional written documents supporting the body of visual work and career goals.

Professional documentation of their verbal and visual work in multiple digital formats
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES:

Students will be able to select work, prepare, install, light, and advertise an exhibition of personally created cohesive body of work for public presentation.

Students will be able to support their visual work through a professionally prepared artist statement, biography, resume, and announcement card.

Students will be able to document their visual work and exhibition in digital format for inclusion in a CD or DVD disc, and upload to a personal website.
Digital Files: A USB drive will be submitted that holds electronic copies of your packet.

Project 1: Artist Statement.
Students will learn how to write an effective and clear artist statement to coincide with their work.
Project 2: Artist Biography.
Students learn how to write an effective an artist biography to coincide with their work.
Project 3: Resume/ CV.
Students will learn how to make a CV or resume.
Project 4: Announcement Card.
Students learn how to make an effective announcement card for their senior exhibition.
Project 5: Image List and Pricing.
Students learn how to appropriately price their work and make an image list for a show and to apply to various opportunities.
Project 6: PowerPoint Presentation (20 images of work, 5 images from show)
